Metformin cuts preterm birth risk among high-risk mothers

New Monash University-led research published in NEJM Evidence found that metformin, a common diabetes medication, did not prevent gestational diabetes overall but was linked to lower odds of preterm birth in high-metabolic-risk pregnancies. The study analyzed data from seven randomized placebo-controlled trials involving 2,297 pregnancies.
